Aswan
One of the hottest, driest, and sunniest cities in the world, Aswan with its 350,000 population made a nice change after the 20 million people in Cairo. It is the gateway to the Nile, home to the Aswan and High Dams, which after thousands of years changed the nature of the Nile, for good and bad. One of the most popular sights is the incredible Philae Temple, the last to be built by the ancient…

Aswan 2017: Best of Aswan, Egypt Tourism
Tumblr media
Aswan, Egypt's sunniest southern city and historic frontier town located about 81 kilometers south of Luxor, has a distinctively African atmosphere. Its early Egyptian name was Syene. Small enough to walk around and graced with beautiful setting up on the Nile, the rate of life is slow-moving and relaxing. Times can be put in strolling along the wide-ranging Corniche viewing the sailboats etch the sky using their large masts or seated in floating restaurants hearing Nubian music and eating newly caught fish.

Aswan In Aswan the Nile reaches its most beautiful, streaming through amber desert and granite stones, rounded emerald islands protected in hand groves and exotic vegetation. Explore the souk, packed with the aroma and color of spices, perfumes, scarves and baskets. View the breathtaking sunsets whilst having tea on the terrace of the Old Cataract Hotel (Known as because of the located area of the Nile's first cataract located here). Aswan is a favorite winter hotel since the start of the nineteenth century, and it's really still a perfect destination to move away from it all.

Aswan Every evening Nubian dancers and music artists perform in the Cultural Centre, just off of the Corniche. Folklore troupes recreate displays from community life and perform the famous Nubian mock stick-fight dances.

Aswan High Dam, Aswan, Egypt Aswan is a tactical location which presently homes a garrison of the Egyptian military, but which includes also seen traditional Egyptian garrisons, in adition to that of Standard Kitchener, Turkish soldiers of the Ottoman empire and the Romans.

Aswan The town proper lays on the east loan company of the Nile. Relax here, go to a few mosques, but plan an trip. The bazaar works over the Corniche, which persists at night Ferial Landscapes and the Nubian Museum, and proceeds to the Cemetery, using its forest of cupolas surmounted tombs from the Fatimid period. Just east of the cemetery in the famous area quarries is the gigantic Unfinished Obelisk. Merely to the south of the, two Graeco-Roman sarcophagi and an unfinished colossus continue to be half buried in the fine sand. The most evident is Elephantine Island, which is classic with artifacts going out with from pre-Dynastic times onward. It's the most significant island in the region. Just beyond Elephantine is Kitchener's Island (Geziret el-Nabatat). It had been called for the United kingdom basic Haratio Kitchener (185--1916) and was delivered to Egypt in 1883 to reorganize the Egyptian military, which then led resistant to the Sudanese Mahdi. However the island is well known because of its garden and the unique crops the Kitchener planted there, and which continue steadily to flourish today. On the contrary shore (western bank or investment company), the cliffs are surmounted by the tomb of the marabut, Qubbet el-Hawwa, who was simply an area saint. Here are tombs of the neighborhood (pharaonic) nobles and dignitaries. Upriver somewhat is the tomb of Mohammed Shah Aga Khan who passed on in 1957. Referred to as the Tomb of the Aga Khan, it is beautiful in its straightforwardness. A road following that leads back again to the Coptic Monastery of St Simeon, that was built-in the sixth hundred years honoring Amba Hadra, an area saint. Just up river a lttle bit, addititionally there is the old Aswan dam, built by the English, that was enlarged, extended, but struggling to control the Nile for irrigation.
